For Your Sunday Morning Jazz this is a re-post and Flac upgrade of an earlier post. I originally shared an MP3 copy that I downloaded from BigO (the home of Sunday Jazz). This is a copy of the Flac set that BigO used to make their MP3s from. This show is one of my favorites. I'm very open about the fact that I partake in my state's legal medical and recreational marijuana laws. So I like to get a doobie, a glass of wine and some music like Jon Hassel, Nils Petter Molvær, Pink Floyd and relax between my speakers.

Completely reworked from a Mid - 80's Cassette. Normalized, deglitched and retracked by drmuzk March 2007. (There is more included in the info file).

So this is supposed to be a different source than a soundboard bootleg titled Across the Bridge Where Angels Dwell, which I haven't heard so I don't know about that. I do know it's a great show from Van The Man! I don't have a huge amount of Van Morrison boots nor have I seen him perform live. I will say I haven't heard a bad Van Morrison show just bad recordings. Also as a casual Van Morrison listener I have only a few of his albums. You know, the popular stuff you heard on the FM back in the day. That being the case I always have a nice pleasant surprise when I listen to different eras of Van on bootleg. He is an amazing talent who I seem to be listening to more and more.

There is a little jump in the volume during "Help Me" and "Tupelo Honey" is only a snip-it that fades out. These are the only blemishes to this recording. It also has one more song than Across the Bridge Where Angels Dwell, "Wavelength". Across The Bridge also is missing "Tupelo Honey" but since it's only a snip-it I won't count that as a bonus (LOL!). This show is an awesome listen and a great addition to any collection!

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to edit some track marks. No EQ or Noise Reduction was used. No remastering or remixing was done. The DVD had lossy audio so I encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper.

More from my growing collection of Hellfest 2024 bootleg DVDs. This time a Rosebud Approved Pick...Megadeth!! Rosebud is a bigger Megadeth fan than I am which is saying a lot. I was a fan from the 1st album Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good. Just like with Metallica their 1st album is a Thrash Metal Classic. The music on both hangs right on that edge of going of the rails at any moment. When both sophomore albums were released there was actually a big change not discussed anymore. It was huge back then with Metal Forces having the headline "Why Did Metallica Change?" Some said both Ride The Lightning and Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying are more perfect examples of Speed Metal not Thrash. Hear me out and don't tear into me either....The playing, recording and production of those 2 albums is so tight you know that they had the music tightly under control. A lot of bands followed the example like Destruction's Infernal Overkill and Voivod's Killing Technology. Others doubled down on the Thrash such as Slayer's best, Reign In Blood.

Now Dave Mustaine seems is having a bit of a rough night vocally sometimes but everyone plays really tight. The set even includes 2 songs from Killing Is My Business, "Rattlehead" and "Mechanix" so I'm happy (lol) Enjoy my friends!

Mike Millard is known to most bootleg collectors, the new collectors will know him in time as we do. As one of the greatest Audience Recording Tapers ever. He has recorded countless shows all of which are sought out by bootleg collectors. This great recording comes from one of the greatest live acts of their day Rod Stewart & The Faces. Their Drunk At The Pub brand of Rock was perfect for the live stage. Lead singer Rod Stewart had blossomed into quite the charismatic frontman. A big difference to his hide behind the amplifier days of The Jeff Beck Group. He also learned to control his singing so as not to lose voice all the time (he was plagued by this in The Jeff Beck Group). Ronnie Wood's time in The Faces was the perfect pre-audition for his future as a Rolling Stone (it got his foot in the door not to say it was handed to him). As for the rest of the group, this team of musicians were able to write and record enough music for 2 careers to blossom. The Faces as a band & Rod Stewart as a solo artist. So this combination...great song writing and a high energy we are just You on stage attitude, audiences everywhere were hooked. Enjoy my friends!

Our second Hard And Heavy Hump Day post is a re-post and Flac upgrade of an older Opeth post. This 5 song performance shows every reason that Opeth is one of my all time favorite bands. Opeth has been a constantly shifting musical force from the beginning of their recording career. Constantly changing with each LP, their particular brand of Progressive Metal includes elements of Progressive Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Folk Music and more. The songs are usually over the 10 minute mark but never feel overly long. Once on tour opening for Glenn Danzig, Opeth was given 20 minutes a night. There just happens to be on their 2nd album Morningrise a song that is 20 minutes long. That song, "Black Rose Immortal" was played every night of that tour (but never again). I kick myself in the backside every time I think about not going to that freaking show!!

For our first Hard And Heavy Hump Day Post we have a short but absolutely sweet Pat Travers radio broadcast. This one is from Pat's 1981 tour to promote Radioactive, his follow up to the successful Crash And Burn. You get only 4 songs but each one is considered a Pat Travers Classic. My favorite of the 4 is the stomping "Snortin' Whiskey". My absolute favorite Pat Travers song "Stevie" unfortunately not on this recording.

The Pat Travers Band is another of those Hard Rock bands that is common ground between Classic 1970s Hard Rockers and the Heavy Metal Heads of the 1980s. Every Metal Head I know has a copy of 2 Pat Travers albums in their collection, Live Go For What You Know and Crash And Burn. As a matter of fact Kirk Hammett of Metallica cites Pat Travers as a major influence. In the 1980s Detroit bar scene almost every Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band at one time or another included "Snortin' Whiskey" in their set.
