These are not demos or outtakes. This compilation consists of jams as a band comes together working out ideas searching for that elusive chord that will bring about the next song. This is also a "new" line up gelling, melding their collective musical ideas for a common direction. The 23 minute jam that is track one on disc one is worth the download alone! Great stuff all Robin Trower fans absolutely must have!

This isn't just a Flac Upgrade The MP3 was VBR So t's An Upgrade There Too!

The first thing I want to say about this great sounding set, is that not one performance took place at the California Jam no matter what the title might suggest. That being said, EVERY PERFORMANCE is Soundboard/FM quality, leading me to believe it's a compilation of radio shows. The Who tracks come from one of their King Biscuit Flower Hour appearances. I was told but can't confirm that the Mott The Hoople tracks are from a King Biscuit Flower Hour show. I highly recommend this 3CD set, I mean look at the artist and track list, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Robin Trower, Leslie West, Peter Townsend, et al one thing the title was correct about is the Guitar Factor!

This is a great collection of Demos made even better by the addition of some live tracks from 1975-1978. Long Misty Days is a great album and I was pretty excited to find these demos at The Traders Den. The additional tracks my already be in your collections, but these demos are well worth the download.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to adjust the volume and re-edit some track marks. The waves were then encoded to MP3 320kbps because the DVD audio was lossy.

Great show from early in the career of Robin Trower. The band pulls out an early version of both "Little Bit Of Sympathy" & "Day Of The Eagle". "Day Of The Eagle" has very different lyrics, actually only one verse is sang and then repeated through out the song. Awesome stuff all Robin Trower fans should have.

Robin Trower with James  Dewar on bass and vocals on tour to promote the Twice Removed From Yeterday LP. This line-up would only last one more album and tour then Reg Isidore would be replaced by Bill Lordan. This is a fabulous performance featuring not only tracks from Twice Removed From Yesterday but you also get early versions of Bridge Of Sighs tracks. "Lady Love", "Little Bit Of Sympathy", and "Day Of The Eagle" (which has slightly different lyrics) are all given the live test before being recorded. James Dewar would front the Robin Trower Band for 10 years and 9 albums. James became disabled in 1987 after a botched medical procedure and could no longer perform. We lost James Dewar to a stroke May 16, 2002 at the age of 59. Reg Isidore would reunite with Robin Trower to record the album Truce which also featured Jack Bruce. Reg Isidore passed away on March 22, 2009 from a heart attack, he was 59.

This is the Robin Trower portion of the nights festivities. Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush followed Robin Trower this night, but Robin refused to let Frank's set be broadcast the same night as his. So the radio station broadcast Robin Trower live as it happened and recorded Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush for broadcast the following night. The two artists were receiving both success and criticism for the obvious Jimi Hendrix worship in their music. This may have lead to Robin's decision that night. But thanks to tapers and modern technology (and a little help from Just Dave's Place) you can listen to the show the way those luck people did that very night in 1975.

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush's set can be downloaded here.

First off look at that line-up again...Jack Bruce and Robin Trower jamming with Gary Husband on drums. You know you going to get some great Blues. And that's exactly what you get! This thing is dripping with that awesome take on the Blues that the classic British groups were known for. It's also pretty cool to hear Robin Trower playing those classic Cream riffs.

A great historical performance, when James Dewer was fronting the band, while Rustee Allen plays bass. I got the DVD from The Traders Den. It was shared by andrzej so all props to him for that. About 57 seconds into "Bluebird" a CB can be heard for about a second (Remember when that used to happen ?) otherwise the sound is really good. Robin Trower fans should not miss this one!!
