Was (Not Was) are another of my favorite groups. Formed by some musicians from the Punk Rock and Garage Rock eras of Detroit Music. They make great music with tongues firmly planted in cheek. You wouldn't place them in an R & B/Funk band from their history but man they are great at what they do.

They run a great studio in Detroit that I was lucky enough to mix the debut album from my band Psychosis at. It had an automated board which at the time was a little rare and expensive. We recorded the thing at Grand Funk Railroad's old studio The Swamp. The mixing board was manual so we opted to go else where to mix. Originally we went to a different studio to mix (which still receives no credit from us!). The engineer was great but his boss bounced us after we were there 3 days. We took him with us. We had to move so Ted Nugent could mix "Fred Bear".

So we end up at Was (Not Was)'s studio. When we had worked there a day our engineer said that Ted wanted to move to where we were again. The studio had all it's rooms booked including Bob Seger working on some demos. Our engineer says studio management told Ted they were fully booked. We know it wasn't because we were there and they liked us. They had some big names in the Michigan scene there...to bump us would not look good even though we were unkown, but hey it's a good story right?

Not sure but I most likely downloaded this from either Voodoo Wagon or Floppy Boot Stomp...both awesome sites you should visit.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to adjust some track marks, add a fade in on shows beginning, delete about 3 minutes of croud noise at shows end, and then add a fade out. The DVD had lossy audio so the waves were encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper.

Venom Inc. consists of former members of the Newcastle New Wave Of British Heavy Metal GODS!! VENOM!! Yes I'm a huge fan!! I collect everything Venom, even shitty sounding audience recordings (like Black Sabbath, Ozzy and Deep Purple). I own all of their studio and live releases. To this day they are one of my favorite bands. My Thrash Band Psychosis (MI) used to play a medley of "Buried Alive/Raise The Dead" at every show.

This brings me to the feud between Venom & Venom Inc. Venom still has founding bassist Conrad "Cronos" Lant but no other original members. Venom Inc. has founding guitarist Jeffrey "Mantas" Dunn, founding drummer Anthony "Abaddon" Bray and Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan from what I call the Prime Evil line-up in the band. I kind of feel each band has a right to exist. I loved the albums released with the Prime Evil line-up. I do love the new Cronos front Venom's latest album as well. With this show you get some classic Venom, one new Venom Inc track but no Prime Evil era tracks. I'm good with that but would like to hear more in the future.

I've been looking for a copy of this festival since I first saw the Woodstock Nation LP Box at my favorite Used Record Store Solo Records. I don't say my favorite lightly either I have been going to them for over 30 years. So I been looking for this show for a while. When I found it, I downloaded it right away then promptly forgot about it in my very over full download folder.

So I'm going through my folder and came across it, I immediately zipped it up for this download. It's a nice listen, you will listen to it more than once. It's also a Piece Of History, I had not heard of this festival till my initial finding of the record years ago. I looked it up, if you want to know more about it you should look it up too. It's an interesting line-up though I am trying to figure the out the addition of Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes and Sha Na Na to what looks to be a predominately Blues Festival. The only thing I could think was it's the Bill Graham influence. He would put Eddie Money and Kiss on the same stage.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to raise the volume and edit track marks. No EQ or Noise Reduction was used. No remixing or remaster done. The tape ends abruptly at the 6:03 mark of "Superstition". I did not fade the ending of the tape preferring to listen to the last note. Even though the DVD has a Lossless audio codec it was made from an MP4 source, so the audio still comes out lossy. I encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper.

It's Stevie Wonder Live 1975 with his band Wonderlove!! What needs to be said?

I've been in a Frank Zappa mood so this the 2nd of what might be a few more shares. I downloaded this boot from another site maybe TUBE. I downloaded it because I needed to know the track list and compare it to a CD I own. See I bought a used box set of Shut Up And Play Your Guitar. It has the series in one set. When I got it home there was a CD-r inside with a hand written "Unreleased Guitar" in red ink. It is an exact match except for this one sounding a little better, probably a lesser generation copy. At any rate if you loved the Shut Up And Play Your Guitar series you're gonna love this too!

Another live Eric Clapton recording for your enjoyment. When I was listening to this one to make sure it was good enough to post a friend of my son's was over visiting. My son asked me what I was going to put on next and I told him Eric Clapton live in 1975 his buddy roars out "Oh I love Eric Clapton, my Dad introduced me to him, Clapton is God." To which I replied "You will not blaspheme in this house like that. Everyone knows Lemmy is God!" The kid looked scared!!

Lamb Of God is one of the heavier bands to come out of the so called New Wave Of American Heavy Metal or NWOAHM. Bands that were tagged with this such as Shadows Fall, God Forbid, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage etc were new American bands playing a version of American Thrash Metal and Metalcore. Lamb Of God mix in a little American Death Metal and some Black Metal elements as well as the Metalcore vibe.

Black Mountain are a Canadian band that plays a fine mix of Psychedelic Rock and Stoner Metal. They always have a nice groove in the music. So they are nice to have on when you are sitting back smoking a couple on a lazy afternoon...
