This show was the one that BigO chose to post when Chester Bennington died. I tell you for my oldest son Spider it was like when John Lennon was shot to us older Rock fans. Spider actually introduced me to Linkin Park as one of his favorite bands. The music spoke to him very deeply. You see Spider has Asperger's Syndrome so was bullied in school. Something that the bullies found was a mistake because I taught my son to stand his ground. He knows how to fight and will if provoked. To add to the bully's confusion after being punched he would be shot with a Nerf Star Trek Phaser. (that's my boy!)

Included below is what BigO had to say about Chester's death:

CHESTER BENNINGTON R.I.P. 1976-2017

Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has died aged 41, LA County Coroner says. The coroner said Bennington apparently hanged himself. His body was found at a private home in the county at 09:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on July 20, 2017. Bennington was said to be close to Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who took his own life in May. Formed in 1996, Linkin Park have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and won two Grammy Awards. The band had a string of hits including Faint, In The End and Crawling, and collaborated with the rapper Jay-Z. In May 2017, Linkin Park released their seventh studio album, One More Light.

A key element in the group’s success was to fuse elements of metal and rock with rap and hip-hop to shape the nu-metal genre on songs such as Crawling, In The End and Numb. Arguably their biggest asset was Chester’s powerhouse voice. He had a huge, raspy vocal which suited their stadium-filling, singalong anthems. Whilst his vocal persona could be described as angry and harsh, in person he was warm, articulate and funny. The singer is said to have struggled for years with alcohol and drug abuse, and has talked in the past about contemplating suicide as a result of being a victim of abuse as a child. Bennington wrote an open letter to Chris Cornell on the latter’s death, saying: “You have inspired me in ways you could never have known… I can’t imagine a world without you in it.” Cornell would have celebrated his 53rd birthday on July 20. He hanged himself after a concert in Detroit on 17 May. - BBC

Downloaded this from The LPLive Archive at lplive.net. They have what they think is every Linkin Park bootleg released. I don't know if it's true but they have a lot of stuff (I recommend it for all fanatics). This is one of the first soundboard recordings to surface by Linkin Park. It is a DVD audio rip from a DVD that had lossy audio so hence the MP3 format. The first known lossless recording of Linkin Park to surface was an audience recording from an October 03, 2000 concert in Des Moines, Iowa, US.

Now this recording was actually filmed by the band for a possible music video. The footage was never used. The band actually is really nervous and makes a lot of mistakes during the show. My son Spider is a huge fan and knew Chester personally (Spider worked at The Place Of Auburn Hills as guest hospitality he met a lot of musicians. I've heard some stories) Chester told him the film was too embarrassing because they blew their big Roxy debut. When I played this for Spider he said I had to post it...So this is a Spider approved post, Enjoy my friends!!

My eldest son plays drums in a few different Heavy Metal projects, his way of following Dad's footsteps you could say. I however have been a vocalist all my musical career. I gave him the name Spider because like Mick Fleetwood my son is very skinny and very tall. When playing the drums he looks like some maniac spider beating the hell out of something. He turned me on to Linkin Park after I turned him onto Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath etc. They are one of his favorite bands along with Avenged Sevenfold (another band he turned me onto). I love that full circle thing. I took him to his first concert, which Kiss like mine. He later took me to what ended up being my last time seeing Lemmy Kilmister front Motörhead live. I'm glad all my kids like a lot of the same music as the old man does.

Any way this is a nice little performance from KROQ's famous annual Christmas Show. P.O.D.'s lead singer Sonny Sandoval steps up to guest on Linkin Park's anthem "One Step Closer". A song that everybody can relate to at least once in their life.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks and raise the volume a little. No EQ or noise reduction was used. I encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps because the DVD had lossy audio.

Chester Bennington commit suicide on July 20, 2017 he was 41.
