Stanley Clarke - Bass, doublebass
Marcus Miller - Bass, bass clarinet
Victor Wooten - Bass
Federico Gonzalez Pena - Keyboards
Derico Watson - Drums

I got this from Voodo Wagon (or was it Floppy Boot Stomp) a while back. Both are great sources for bootlegs and out of print locations so should be visited often! Thanks for the great work over there guys!

As for this recording...how could you miss with a line up like that huh? Someone had the idea to take 3 of the best bass players in Jazz, put them on one stage and have them jam. Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten and Marcus Miller combine their talents to create some of the most Bass-tastic music. If you didn't get this from Floppy Boot Stomp (or was it Voodoo Wagon) get it now!

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to raise the volume and add a faed out/fade in at the beginning and end of the show. No EQ or Noise reduction was used. The DVD had lossy audio so I used Traders Little Helper to encode the waves to MP3 320kbps.

justdave's notes on DVD:
I downloaded the MKV file from the net. I then used Nero 2015 Platinum to make chapter, a menu, and encode the MKV to a DVD. Really pleased with how well this DVD turned out.

Two Piano Jazz Legends on the same stage inspiring each other to such heights of performance that you just have to sit and take notice. One of my favorite set of bootlegs in my collection is the soundboards from Billy Joel & Sir Elton John's Head To Head Tour. This performance, this pairing of players equals and I personally would dare to say tops those recordings. It really comes through, the fun, friendship, and mutual musical respect, in this show. This show started my Sunday Morning Jazz wake up. I think it will be a great show for yours...

About 4 or 5 inches of snow has fallen this week. It's snowing right now and everything out back looks so peaceful as I sit here drinking my morning coffee. This show from quite a few years ago is playing on the stereo. One of my favorite Jazz Fusion outfits playing on yet another program usually reserved for Rock and it's many off shoots. So many Metal Heads I know are into Return To Forever, it would amaze you. Most say it's for the guitar playing no matter which guitar player is in the group. My guitarist in Psychosis said it was for the song writing. My bass player of course said it was for Stanley Clarke. I have to agree with my guitarist that it's for the song writing. This remaster is a great example of the awesome live performances that also made Return To Forever a favorite of many....

3 songs in 43 minutes, it's short on titles not on outstanding performances. I am really enjoying the fact that a Detroit born and bred Kenny Garrett is playing sax on this one. Chick Corea only plays with the best, knowing that he picked a Detroit musician is a point of pride. I love it when 1 of us makes it out of The D. Detroit has always been a deep ocean of talent with a rich musical history. Oddly enough with with that rich history it's always been a scene that was hard to break out of. A lot of the music that came/comes form Detroit was/is seen as empty of anything but energy. The MC5 seen as a huge influence on Garage Rock, Punk Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Alt-Rock and Grunge were dismissed in their day. Their are more stories than that but The MC5 are the best known example, also this isn't Jazz talk so I will end this little rant by saying enjoy the music and check out those sax solos!!

This is a great sounding show from the Bill Conners era of Return To Forever. Bill Conners left in April 1974. He stated that he had musical differences with the shift toward a more Rock fusion sound, which he likened to Mahavishnu Orchestra. He also stated that he had a growing dislike for Chick Corea's Scientology way of running the band. After leaving Bill Conners started acting as a session musician playing with John Abercrombie and ex-bandmate Stanley Clarke. Bill Conners also released his own albums which included some acoustic guitar recordings. Of course all fans know he was replaced with one Al Di Meola. So let's all enjoy a little Return To Forever this Sunday Morning!

Wow! Can you believe it's time for Sunday Morning Jazz already. I don't know about you but I have had a busy week and I am ready to listen to some Jazz, sip my coffee, and watch the wind dance through the trees in my backyard.

What a show, what a recording the Legendary Mike Millard recorded the Legendary Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock! I really shouldn't have to say anything more but I am going to. This recording can be called soundboard quality! It is one of Mike MIllard's best recordings by far. That is saying a lot, but since it was such a laid back atmosphere Mike Millard was able to make a great audio capture. The audience never steps on the sound of the performance at all. The soundboard man had an awesome mix, everything presented on the stage is clearly heard. The performance is everything you would expect from two of the best keyboardists in Jazz...Enjoy the show my friends!

That's right over 3 hours of Return To Forever, and a Pre-FM recording at that! That being said I must add that this is not your typical Pre-FM recording. This recording comes from the complete original soundboard tapes. These tapes are a little raw and some levels can be uneven at times. That being said this is a great listening pleasure for all of us who love Return To Forever.

This recording also is from just before Bill Connors leaves the band. When Bill Connors leaves Detroit Jazz Artist Earl Klugh joins the band temporarily. Earl Klugh's time in the band is very short and Al Di Meola steps in to solidify what most fans consider the definitive line-up of Return To Forever. So clear some time, sit back and listen to some awesome music.

This is a very large file set so both early and late shows have been split up for easier downloading, all files can be opened separately.
