I might get a few Anthrax fans upset when I say this but it's the truth. My favorite Anthrax eras are with Neil Turbin and John Bush on vocals. It's not that I don't like the Joey Belladonna era. I do but for one the Fist Full Of Metal debut is the sound of a very hungry band putting their best forward at their big shot. Each era also had their own sound. The change in song writing from Fist Full Of Metal to Spreading The Disease I myself didn't like. When John Bush joined he was a vocalist that liked to write, Joey Belladonna was a tell me what you want kind of vocalist. There was also production differences in all 3 eras. The John Bush era production to me was the strongest sounding. My favorite album Fist Full Of Metal has the drums too far up front. The Joey Belladonna era seems to be mostly mid-range, no bottom end. In the end it's just one music fans opinion, the opinion that really counts is the bands. Anthrax makes music from the heart in every era, it's amazing how a couple different parts can make a whole new machine!

I have been a fan of Anthrax every since I heard their debut album Fist Full Of Metal. My friend Metal Mike played it for me shortly after it's release. I went out and bought my first vinyl copy (which I wore out and replaced once then bought the CD). I was a little worried when I heard they replaced their singer Neil Turbin. When I bought the Armed And Dangerous E.P. I was a little disappointed with Joey Belladonna's vocals on the fake live re-recordings of 2 Neil Turbin era tracks. I like Joey's voice but he can't sing like Neil Turbin. When Spreading The Disease was released I was a little disappointed in it as there was a style shift away from the Fist Full Of Metal album. Any band who changes lead vocalists changes in style, it's inevitable.

I have to say that the next LP Among The Living (which solidified and broadened the new sound) is still in rotation to this day. That said I have to be truthful adding John Bush to the band was actually, for me, a pleasant surprise. I love Armored Saint and John Bush's voice is a big reason why. Now having John sing for Anthrax was as drastic a change as having David Coverdale replace Ian Gillan in Deep Purple. I however love every album by Anthrax John Bush sang on, as well as every Deep Purple record Coverdale sang on. I was also glad when Joey came back so I could once again see that line-up live, which I recommend they are still a great live band.

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to edit track marks, adjust the volume of all tracks to be uniform, add fade outs/ins and cross fades. No EQ or noise reduction was used. The DVD had lossy audio so I encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps with Trader's Little Helper.

The recording shows a little age, and maybe a couple generations, not so much that it is unlistenable though. I never thought I would find a soundboard recording of Grim Reaper. Finding a Pro-Shot DVD from the only tour I caught them on was far from my mind. I heard of Grim Reaper through Hit Parader magazine. There was an add for See You In Hell. You could send a stamped self addressed envelope for the to send you a floppy sampler of Grim Reaper & White Wolf. The floppy record had snippets of "See You In Hell" & "Dead On Arrival" plus 2 unmemorable tunes by White Wolf. The floppy came with mail order info so I bought See You In Hell. I bought all the Grim Reaper releases, along with Helloween & Armored Saint. When I heard they were touring together I had to see them. It was awesome, this Metal Head was in Heaven.

This is a great performance with some surprises. The band includes "On The Way" a song from the original Armored Saint EP that hasn't been played in years. The next surprise is "Spineless" from Symbol Of Salvation which may have been played only once before, the band can't remember.

Early in their careers both Anthrax & Metallica wanted John Bush to be their front man. Anthrax came calling when they fired Neil Turbin after the Fist Full Of Metal album was released. Metallica called John Bush when James Hetfield felt he wanted to concentrate on playing guitar due to lack of confidence in his singing voice. Bush declined both offers because Armored Saint was gaining momentum. Later when Armored Saint was on hiatus, Anthrax fired vocalist Joey Belladonna and asked John Bush to join again. He accepted and that line up released 5 studio albums and 1 live album before Bush returned to Armored Saint and Belladonna returned to Anthrax.

Formed in 1982 in Pasadena California. The band quickly recorded a 5 song demo tape that caught the attention of Brian Slagel at the fledgling Metal Blade Records. Metal Blade included the track "Lesson Well Learned" on their Metal Massacre II release in 1982. Three of the remaining tracks were used for the 1983 self titled EP. These recordings caught the attention of Chrysalis Records who released the March Of The Saint full length in 1984. Armored Saint vocalist John Bush was actually a hot commodity in the Metal Underground as both Metallica and Anthrax tryed to lure John away from Armored Saint to join with them. Metallica also asked bassist Joey Vera to join them after the death of Cliff Burton. John Bush eventually joined Anthrax after Joey Belladonna was fired.

This recording catches the band at the start of the March Of The Saint Tour. The complete album is played as well as the "Lesson Well Learned" single.
