Wadada Leo Smith's Great Lakes Suites project is kind of special for me having lived in Michigan all my life. Like almost anyone who grows up here The Great Lakes was where my family spent our summers vacations, camping, boating, fishing, and swimming. Wadada's compositions are both as deep and wide as the vast bodies of water that inspired them.
