The cover art says the date was in 1984 but the date is actually 1983. There was a really good website with all the tour dates Kansas did in their career and if any recordings existed of the show. Alas when I checked it before this post the site was no longer available. This is a great show from this period, Kansas would go on hiatus after this tour.
Hmm....a bit of a mystery on the broadcast date, too....my list shows IC 84-03 as the Tubes airs the first weekend, and IC 84-04 as Graham Parker airs the third weekend (they were running two shows a month back then).
ReplyDeleteThere was a WW! Superstars In Concert broadcast on Feb. 17, 1984 (show SS84-2) that split the disc between Kansas and the Fixx.
The Kansas portion is a partial match...I wonder if the bootlegger accessed either a separate FM broadcast of the show....or the actual master tapes at WW1? The Kansas portion of that Superstars show is:

I do know that Kansas played their last concert with John Elephante on December 31, 1983. Kerry Livgren formed A.D. and John Elephante recorded one more Kansas track then the band dissolved in 1984. Steve Walsh reformed Kansas in 1985. The person who uploaded it to the Traders Den didn't list the record number or give any scans of the lps or cue sheets (I wish everyone gave the type of info you do with your encodings) I always appreciate your help when that happens... Yeah, I'll download this and give it a listen, too. Those WW1 shows had a "sound" to them, probably because they were engineered by the same crew every time. It's interesting, though...I've seen that Kansas/Fixx show several times so I'm sure it exists. It could also be that there IS an "Inc Concert" show out there, my list certainly doesn't have every show on it.
