When this first popped up from what I gather no one knew where it was recorded. Somehow the mystery was solved and it was determined to be from a venue in Detroit, Michigan. My back yard so to speak. I will say I wish I could have been at this one. Jean-Luc Ponty, George Duke, Ruth Underwood etc, it's one of the best live line ups you could get, if only Flo & Eddie were there too!
Anyway there was a bit of work done on this one by all the people who's names follow the title. It's explained on the included info text file. This is a great listen so grab it fast because the link is permanent.

He has never been afraid to put people on stage. Musicians of very high quality. Invention, innovation, evolution... Thank you my friend for this muffin.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome my friend. I have been going through the many shows I have of Frank lately because I'm on a bit of a Frank Zappa phase I guess. You know, when you have a nice collection of music you go through those "I feel like listening to this" things. I've been heavy on Frank lately. If I like the sound of one of his shows it goes here.

The fans at some shows during this time would yell out Flo and Eddie songs. Flo and Eddie did rehearsals for th 1988 tour but they left before the tour began either because their radio schedule wouldn't let them be in the entire tour or they had become a family-friendly act in the revival band circuit with the Monkees and other 1960s bands. I hope the estate releases those rehearsal tapes. Thank you for all the Zappa!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Jimbo! The Zappa family has been releasing a lot of archive material, we can only hope they release the 88 tour rehearsals, a comment I've heard a lot so the demand is there for sure.
