The harmonies of The Roches seem to be tailor made for The Christmas Season. This set including "We Three Kings", comes a good 5 years before the release of their We Three Kings Christmas album. If you are having a Christmas party, family get together or just and intimate family Christmas this recording will help make the season bright.

Oh my gosh, it made my day to see this pop up!!!! I have been collecting boots for years, and you know how many I've seen of the Roches? ZERO!
ReplyDeleteThis will be so fun to hear. I fell for the Roches based, really, on the photo of 2 of them on the inside sleeve of my favorite album, Paul Simon's There Goes Rhymin' Simon (see link below).
From there, I bought their albums and became a fan. Got to see the in concert just once.
So thanks again for this. One note - it's spelled Roches, not Roaches (even though it's indeed pronounced like the latter).
Here's that photo from 1972:

Hey Beryl so glad you are enjoying the Roches show. Didn't realize I had spelled the name wrong, I'll correct it. I had it right all over the post but right at the top wouldn't you know it! LOL!! I learned of The Roches through an article in Rolling Stone back in high school. It was a review of a live performance somewhere. I believe The Bottom Line in New York (everybody had to play The Bottom Line). The reviewer made the band sound so unique that I had to check them out, to much satisfaction I must say.
DeleteYou will be happy to know that I actually have 2 recordings from The Roches. This one and a recording from a radio program called Morning Becomes Eclectic in 1995. It's a split bootleg with another all female group called The Be Good Tanyas. They were on the show in 2005. I'll set that recording up for posting on the next round...so probably before the New Year it will be uploaded. I have to listen to it once more to make sure it all plays right, I do before every upload. I remember it sounded great and opened with an awesome version of "Can We Go Home Now". Can't remember The Be Good Tanyas. Enjoy the holiday Roches show my friend!!
