We Got The Blues And More!!

Well we have finished re-posting all the Blues shows which brings us ever closer to a finished archive. FileFactory says we have over 2500 files stored, a little over 600GB stored, already. So when we fixed the Blues shows like all the other re-posts some shows were upgraded to Flac, can't remember which but some. Anyway just so you know this round of re-posts included such artists and shows like: The Foghat Blues Tribute Show featuring Otis Blackwell, Eddie Kirkland, Honey Boy Edwards, Paul Butterfield, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, & Johnny Winter, WOW! We also have a team up of Alvin Lee & Mick Taylor, Ten Years After, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, The Jeff Healey Band, John Hiatt, Kenny Wayne Shepherd,  The Blues Rock of Humble Pie, Robin Trower, & Sass Jordan. A show where Johnny Winter Hosts Blues Legends Muddy Waters, James Cotton & Pinetop Perkins. 10 Stevie Ray Vaughan shows! 3 from brother Jimmy Vaughan & The Fabulous Thunderbirds. More Blues Rock Guitar from The Pat Travers Band, & Beth Hart. We can't forget the Legendary Rory Galagher's 6 shows including his Don Kirshner's Rock Concert Performances from 1974 & 1975. We also can't forget 4 Roy Buchanan shows have been re-posted as well.

We also have some new stuff for you as well!

Our Jazz offerings this week come from The Pat Metheny/John Scofield Quartet, and the more Experimental Improving Jazz of The Nels Cline Singers.

Because we have 1 unconventional Jazz offering we are going to blur the lines again with the Funky, Jazzy, Soul of Tower Of Power (Rest In Peace Francis "Rocco" Prestia 1951-2020)

Rosebud continues to pay Tribute To Her Favorite Singers by personally approving 2 Queen shows with The Legendary Freddie Mercury. One from 1981 and the other from 1988.

Since Rosebud Picked 2 Queen shows I figured I will have a running spotlight for a while featuring Progressive Rock. I am also going through a Prog Rock Phase at home making it convenient as well. This Weeks Progressive Rock offering comes from British Prog Rockers Gentle Giant. Finding one from my collection that Gentle Giant has not officially was pretty hard they have released quite a few Official Bootlegs. Check out their website for purchasing.

For Jimi Hendrix Fans we have The Ross Tapes: Tape # 6, which is like The Bob Terry Tapes.

For our Metalhead Friends (you are not forgoten) a 1985 FM Broadcast from Rough Cutt.

We are working on the Classic Rock selections from the archive now. A through c are zipped and uploaded already just waiting for me to link them!

Thank You To All Of Our Visitors!

Another great Queen & Freddie Mercury show as Rosebud salutes her favorite vocalists. This recording comes from an AM Radio station not FM so there is a sound difference. This is however a great show so don't let the AM Radio thing hold you back. The artwork included is the best I could find but rather cheap. Hopefully I will find something better in the future.

Freddie Mercury – lead vocals, piano, guitar

Roger Taylor – drums, vocals

Special Guest:
Fish (Marillion) - vocals "Tutti Frutti".

This is show in Rosebud's Salute To Her Favorite Singers is #1 for the Freddie Mercury segment. This recording from Queen's 1986 tour in support of the A Kind Of Magic album is considered to be one of the best from that tour. This is a 100% complete recording with no cuts or fade ins/fade outs. An added bonus is that "Fish", lead vocalist of Marillion, joins in on "Tutti Frutti".

When I sat with Rosebud last night to preview this recording before post, it caused a big emotional response from me. See my 5 year old Grandson lives in Japan with my daughter while her husband serves in the US Navy. I miss him terribly and will not see him for another 2 years. When Freddie sang "Is This The World We Created?" I cried. Reason being, with the way things are in my country, I think he's safest there. I don't want to turn The New JDP into a big political debate or my personal soapbox (it's my safe place) so I will just say..everyone in the world no matter their actual political view can see the US is not well. My Grandson is half way around the globe, safe. God I miss him.

This is a perfect recording to be the first Gentle Giant post on The NewJDP. This is a great sounding recording with good stereo seperation and a nice bass sound. Since Rosebud has posted 2 shows from Queen for her salute to her favorite vocalists I figured I would have a spotlight on Progressive Rock. So Gentle Giant are post 1 of that tribute.

All I have to say is if you loved The Bob Terry Tapes you'll love The Ross Tapes Too.

Original Uploader Notes:
"Ross was known for low gen newly circulated genuine Jimi studio jams and concerts. The songs on most of his stuff are at the right speed, it sure sounds clean, neat n complete. These pre-date DAT tape too. Anyway, Ross made a final offer one summer by providing an 11 tape series of all his studio stuff. My friend took #2, 3, 6, & 7. Shortly after buying these tapes Ross generally disappeared from the scene. These torrents are right off the raw cassettes, no altering at all."

Eddie Van Halen has lost his fight with throat cancer. He fought and defeated tongue cancer from 2000-2002. In this fight he had about a third of his tongue removed.  Doctors declared him cancer free. In 2019 we found out Eddie had been fighting throat cancer. This cancer took Eddie Van Halen on October 6, 2020, he was 65. Rest In Peace Eddie.

justdave's notes:
A nice recording of Van Hagar firing on all 4 cylinders. There is a great scene in the movie Airheads. The lead characters tried to figure out if a guy was a rock manager or cop. They asked him a few questions. One question they asked him was what side he was on in the great Van Hagar vs. David Lee Roth band debate. He answered that both had good songs. They immediately identified him as a cop telling him "wrong it's David Lee Roth." I did appreciate the Van Hagar stuff, but favored the first two Roth solo albums he made with Steve Vai. I mean after having Eddie Van Halen as lead guitarist, you had to go with Steve Vai, right? Anyway, Eddie Van Halen's guitar God status goes unquestioned - PERIOD! Granted he was playing more keyboards in the 80's, but his guitar parts are still pure Eddie. Also, you get Sammy Hagar playing lead on his solo tracks (included in the set) with Eddie joining in. That's a nice twin guitar attack!

Time For Another Update On What's Been Going On

First I want to say that we have finished re-posting all the links for all Funk, R & B, Soul, and Rap shows. A lot of these shows have also been upgraded to lossless as well. To name some of the bands we have re-posted from those genres.. we have Al Green, Ben E. King, Billy Paul, Bobby Womack, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, The Temptations, Graham Central Station, Bootsy Collins, Lakeside, Mandrill, Rick James, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, The Brothers Johnson, The Commodores,  The Spinners and more!!!!

Next up are some new shows as well....Rosebud's Salute To Her Favorite Vocalists brings us 2 shows from Ozzy Osbourne's solo career. I usually don't interfere in Rosebud's Picks but I said if it's going to be 2 from Ozzy it has to be 2 from his solo career and from the Jake E. Lee era. This way I can pay tribute to Jake E. Lee with 3 different boots because I wanted to share the Badlands 1989 Soundboard Collection. I also wanted to share a 1981 Kool & The Gang show from London. We also have another Marillion Pre-FM show this time from 1987 in The U.S. For my Jazz friends we have another Funky/Jazzy show from John Medeski's Mad Skillet. For a more traditional Jazz show we have the Makoto Ozone Trio.

There You have it..all the music we brought to you this time. We dare to estimate that we are very close to completing the archive rebuild. We are going to concentrate on the Blues recordings next and then the Classic Rock stuff. Any requests for a broken link to be fixed will be welcomed of course so don't be afraid to ask. We are trying to have a lasting archive of boots here so..

Thanks Again For Everything!!

Oh Yeah, Buy Speedy's Book!!!

This is a remastered version of the same show as the bootleg The Drunkin' Show. The sound of this recording is really good. Ozzy's voice sounds really good as well, seeing how drunk her is rumored to have been at this show. You can actually hear Ozzy say off mic "..I feel like I'm gonna vomit..". This really is one of the best sounding soundboard recordings from the Jake E. Lee era (there may or not be better performances). It could be a live album with it's warts and all. Myself I prefer the warts and all concept of a live album. Saying that I don't care if a band goes into the studio and polishes up a live performance for release. I do however prefer the unpolished bootleg approach. My personal favorite Classic Rock Era Live Albums are Deep Purple's Made In Japan & Grand Funk Railroad's Live Album. Neither of these live albums have overdubs, they are the only 2 that come to my mind at the time, I know there is not many. Black Sabbath's Live At Last had no overdub's (the band had no say in i's release) but I don't consider the 1980's to be Classic Rock Era (I mean some of the keyboard and drum sounds can be anoying to say the least.)

justdave's added notes:
The complete soundboard recording from the show recorded for King Biscuit Flower Hour and The Ultimate Ozzy Home Video VHS/Laser Disc release. This release has been deleted from Ozzy's catalog, as well as anything with the song "Shot In The Dark". This includes The Ultimate Sin, Just Say Ozzy E.P. and Live & Loud. The best of compilation The Ozzman Cometh was re-released with "Shot In The Dark" removed. These live versions of "Ultimate Sin", "Never Know Why" & "Thank God For The Bomb" have been released on the Prince Of Darkness Box Set. The Box Set covers the Jake E. Lee years sparsely with only 7 songs representing that era. This bootleg throws in a recording of the 1986 Monsters Of Rock Festival. This is a different source than the previous '86 Monsters Of Rock post I made much earlier on this site.

I downloaded this from Purple Hippies a site I highly recommend for Deep Purple, Rainbow, Dio, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake and Michael Schenker bootlegs.

The last time we posted a Makoto Ozone show, it was his arraignment of Mozart's 9th Piano Concerto for Piano & Jazz Orchestra. A great piece of music and one hell of a performance. This recording is a little more traditional than that but no less of a performance. I love Piano Jazz and my favorites are Chick Corea & Keith Jarrett. Makoto Ozone is right up there in the mix. I mean anyone who is influenced, at 12 years of age I might add, by Oscar Peterson to play Jazz Piano has to be good! Actually Makoto Ozone is a fabulous player, a prodigy that started playing organ at the age of 2. At the age of 7 he was playing professionally on TV, which he did for 3 years. He studied music at Berklee College of Music at the age of 18 and released his debut Jazz LP at the age of 21. You will be hearing from him again real soon as I am listening to a killer performance of Makoto Ozone and Gary Burton together., Fabulous!!

John Medeski's Mad Skillet:
John Medeski - organ, piano
Will Bernard - guitar
Kirk Joseph - sousaphone
Terence Higgins - drums

So Many people enjoyed the last Mad Skillet post I figured, one more time. This one was recorded a couple years earlier than the last but is just as bad ass! To tell the truth I had a hard time deciding which show I was going to post first. I only have the 2 so I flipped a coin. The winner was every one because you get both anyway, so enjoy my friends.

OK More Stuff New And Old

We are getting closer to finishing the rebuild of our archive.

We have finished re-posting all of the Heavy Metal, Progressive Rock, Southern Rock/Country, Punk Rock, Hardcore, New Wave, Alternative, and Jazz shows.

We still have Classic Rock, Funk, R & B, Rap, and Blues yet to finish but we have taken a big chunk out of the pile. Thank You so  much for your patience.

Don't forget if you find a broken link you would like fixed just leave a comment in the comment section of the post and we will get that for you as soon as possible.

We also have a few new posts for your listening pleasure. Continuing with Rosebud's Tribute To Her Favorite Singers we have a double shot from David Bowie's Sound & Vision Tour. For our Jazz Loving Friends we have 1 from Medeski, Martin, Scofield & Wood and we have 1 from John Medeski's Mad Skillet. We have a new soundboard posted from Blues Legend B.B. King and Funk/Soul Legend Curtis Mayfield. For our Heavy Metal Fans we have a Legends Of Thrash Metal Double Shot 1 from Anthrax and 1 from (one of my personal faves) Overkill.

Thank You So Much For The Patience While We Rebuild

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks and raise the volume. No EQ or noise reduction was used. The DVD had lossy audio so I used Traders Little Helper to encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps.

Overkill play what I would call an Old School Set dipping back as far as their 1985 Debut Feel The Fire but going no farther than the 1996 Classic Fuck You EP. Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth stills sounds great after all these years. The man has defeated sinus cancer (having his face removed to scrape the inside of his sinus), and an onstage stroke. Blitz and his long time Partner in Thrash D.D. Verni have such a connection they can crank out Classic Thrash albums in their sleep. The band has evolved over the years from their Classic Thrash Sound to a more Groove Metal/Thrash Metal Hybrid yet still retaining their loyal fan base.
