The second in Rosebud's Tribute To Glenn Hughes is a great show from Glenn's South American Tour playing a Deep Purple MKIII Set. When asked why he was out touring playing these songs he said (and I paraphrase here) "Someone has too". I agree wholeheartedly. At one point there had been talk of reforming the Deep Purple MKIII line-up. Ritchie Blackmore however said it would be hard to convince Ian Pace to do it. Lars Ulrich of Metallica offered to play if Pace wouldn't. The idea was put to rest when John Lord passed away. Personally as a Metallica fan (pre-Black Album sorry) I would rather see another drummer do the job. Lars can not swing like Ian (all drummers say Ian's swing style is hard to cop). That being said this backing band kicks ass. I wish Hughes & Coverdale would tour this material together but damn does Glenn do a great job with out him. It's interesting to hear him sing songs Dave took the main lead on like "Sail Away" & "Mistreated".

This post serves up a package of 2 different versions of the recording. Both versions start with the originally posted FM Master recording. The first version is edited to remove as much DJ chatter as possible without losing music. The second version is also remastered as well as edited. It makes for a fine package, added is the cover art that BigO magazine used when they hosted the original master at their site.

This is a very large file set, both flac & MP3. The flac CDs have been uploaded separately, the MP3 was uploaded in 2 parts. All parts will unzip separately as well.

Glenn Hughes - vocals, bass
Tony Iommi - guitar

Dave Holland - drums

Recorded as an intended Black Sabbath album or a Tony Iommi solo album, that's still in contention but these sessions stayed unreleased for a long time. Tony Iommi finally re-recorded most of it (keyboards & drums) for the DEP Sessions CD. Dave Holland's drum tracks were wiped because Iommi wanted to distance himself from Holland. Dave Holland (of Judas Priest) had been convicted of molesting a mentally challenged 17 year old boy in 2004. The boy had been taking drum lessons from Holland. Dave maintains he is innocent. Dave Holland was living in A Fonsagrada, Spain when he died January 16, 2018. It was later reported that he had died from lung cancer, Holland was 69. Additional keyboards were also added by Geoff Nichols & Mike Exeter before the official release.

This is the first in a couple Rosebud Picks in tribute to another favorite singer of hers Glenn Hughes. Like me Rosebud feels the Glenn Hughes-David Coverdale era of Deep Purple is very underrated by a lot of Rock & Rollers. Some Purple fans love Deep Purple MKIII some don't. Personally I am a fan of all Deep Purple line-ups but one. The line-up with Joe Lynn Turner, if Ritchie Blackmore wanted to make another Rainbow album he should have reformed that band. I'm not a big fan of Rainbow's Joe Lynn Turner era either but that's just my opinion (it's not that I hate it either just my least favorite I guess), Rosebud loves it (LOL).

More New Links For Old Shows!!

Rosebud has had me pretty busy. She keeps herding me into the computer room everyday to work on the site. As a result a lot has been accomplished...

So we finished off our re-posting of Alternative bands by re-posting archives for A Perfect Circle, Faith No More, and Stone Temple Pilots.

We have also re-posted all of the shows from Country Music & Southern Rock Bands on the site. This includes Point Blank, Alabama, Arc Angels, Charlie Pride, The Desert Rose Band, Chris Stapleton, David Allen Coe, Don Williams, Dr. Hook, Eddie Rabbit, Freddy Fender & The Texas Tornados, Gregg Allman, The Allman Brothers Band, Steve Earl (including his super group Lampadusa), Hank Williams Jr., Dwight Yokam, Black Oak Arkansas, ZZ Top and many many more...So All Links For Country & Southern Rock Shows Should Now Be Working If You Come Across A Country or Southern Rock Show That Doesn't Work Please Leave A Comment On That Show And It Will Be Fixed.

Also the archives for Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Deep Purple, & Journey have been re-posted. This includes 2 of Neil Schons side projects H.S.A.S. and Hardline.
Next we will be working on re-posting some of the Jazz shows. You can still request re-posts of any shows that you need re-posted of course so please do ask if you run across a dead link you want.

Lots Of New Links And Some New Shows Too!!!

Well we've been busy here behind the scenes once again. We have some more re-posts as well as some new posts.

First the requests. We had a request for some Nazareth links to be re-posted so all the Nazareth links work again. Also there was a request for a Johnny Winter Robin Trower King Bisquit show so I reposted all the Johnny Winter and Robin Trower shows. There was also  a request for the Little River Band BBC Rock Hour Pre-FM that post is now again active. I have also re-posted all Muddy Waters & Foghat shows including the Foghat Tribute To The Blues with performances with performances by Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield, John Lee Hooker, & Honey Boy Edwards to name a few.

There was a request to re-post my own verson of the 1984 Bachman Turner Overdrive Harpo's Detroit, Michigan show. It's a composite of my FM recording and my friend Gypsy Dan's recording to make a complete show. The common version found on the net is missing the final encore. I have been told my version sounds a lot better as well. It's now available here. More BTO con the site here.

All Gov't Mule shows are back on line. I have also started re-posting all the Punk, Hardcore and New Wave shows. Billy Idol, Black Flag, Crass, Iggy Pop, Iggy & The Sooges, Melvins, Misfits, Danzig, Ramones, Rollins Band, Cramps, Sick Of It All, Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front are all on line.

Thank You Once Again For All Your Requests And Your Patience While We Rebuild.

When I originally posted The PMG Companion Volume 1 (1976 – 1980) there were a lot of requests for Volume 2. I downloaded Volume 1 from the etre.org torrent tracker, Volume 2 disappeared before I could download it. It came back so I grabbed it.

The PMG Companion, Vol. II: 1981 – 1982 "The Travels Companion" is actually meant to be just that, a companion to the official Travels live album. With this 2 CD set along with the Travels LP you have a commercial quality recording of every song the second line-up of The Pat Metheny Group performed live in it's 2 years together.

This set like Volume 1 comes with a very comprehensive set of liner notes for each track. The artwork was put together with special care as well. if you loved Volume 1 you will love Volume 2. If you don't have Volume 1 yet I have it here. If you want more Pat Metheny shows you can find them on the site here.

justdave's notes:
This comes from my own silver CD that I bought for $3.99 US. I knew it was unofficial as soon as I saw the inside picture wasn't with Manny Chartlton like on the front.

Recorded while Nazareth was on tour for The Catch. Sounds like a small intimate venue. There is a bootleg DVD of this show as well, but I have never seen it. Track 14 fades out to the Live From London Outro music.
The venue Camden Place comes from my research on the net, that info is not on the cover. I have come up with two possible dates for the show, June 10, 1985 and May 24, 1985. Since the bands tour itinerary says the played there twice I put down both dates. The same itinerary says the recording for the Live From London Show was to be recorded at either date. Also I don't know the name of the keyboard player for this tour, as John Locke was in the band from 1980-82, and Ronnie Leahy from 1994-02. Sound quality is excellent, all instruments are clear and there is no tape hiss, sounds like a pre broadcast source actually.

I first heard of Lords Of The New Church reading Rolling Stone magazine's review of a concert of theirs in London. I can't remember if it was a good review or not. I do remember the picture of Stiv Bators all contorted in what looked like passionate pain for each syllable he sang. I was a young Metal Head who also loved Punk Rock so I just had to hear these guys. Late night on WRIF-FM Detroit on Sunday they would play Heavy Metal & Punk Rock. I think it was "Method To Our Madness" sandwiched between I think 999's "Homicide" & Motörhead's "White Line Fever" anyway I was sold and the next weekend it was to the local Harmony House for some new albums.

This is a great show and an awesome first appearance of The Lords Of The New Church on The New JDP.

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to try to make the volume levels match better. No EQ or noise reduction was used. The waves were lossy so I used Traders Little Helper to encode them to MP3 320kbps.

Some great early performances by Pink Floyd from various Television Broadcasts. Some of the performances are a little abridged and there could have been a broader selection of songs. Don't let those 2 little facts deter you, this is early, live Pink Floyd...smoke a couple joints, put on your headphones and float!!

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to double the volume and to re-edit some track marks. The DVD had lossy audio so I used Traders Little Helper to encode the waves to MP3 320kbps.

Mike Rutherford returns with a new line-up of Mechanics. This new version of the band is very tight. New vocalists Tim Howar and Andrew Roachford do a great job. Yes nobody could ever replace the Legendary Paul Carrack or the late yet Immortal Paul Young. The best thing is that they don't try to imitate their predecessors they bring the songs to life in their own way. I love this performance! I'm going to risk some hate comments but I think I would rather see Mike & The Mechanics come through my town than another Genesis Reunion without Peter Gabriel. Give the fans what they really want guys "Suppers Ready" just one more damn time!!!

More Requests Filled!!!

Had a few requests come in that I have just completed.

We had a request from aking for the Supertramp, Steve Miller Band, links to be re-posted as well as the Don Kirshner's Rock Concert appearance of T-Rex. These have all been fixed.

Gman asked for a re-post of the Don Kirshner Rock Concert featuring Lou Reed, Ambrosia, and Graham Central Station so it was re-posted (here) as well as all links from those 3 bands and a Don Kirshner appearance of Sly & The Family Stone.

fwhome4 from my home area of Metro Detroit asked for a re-post of a couple really good shows from some local heroes. Bitter Sweet Alley a band that was large and expected to make it but somehow didn't (I recommend them to any of my 80's Rock fans). Also a local radio show to raise money for local Viet Nam War Veterans WLLZ Guitar Army with performances by Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Mark Farner (Grand Funk), The Rockets, Jim McCarty, Rob Tyner (The MC5), The Frost's Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper), and Scott Morgan of the Legendary Rationals. Those links are re-posted and recommended to lovers of great Rock & Roll

There was an anonymous request for Jamey Johnson links as well as another for Kid Rock so both those artists links are fixed.

Bud_e_luv_bomb an Anthrax show to be re-posted so I fixed all the Anthrax related links  i the process.

There you go. If anyone has any requests leave a comment here on on that post and I will get it re-posted.

Thank You For Being So Patient While We Re-build!
