Thanks go to Draftervoi for providing Cue Sheet and Label scans along with a couple news articles from his Westwood One library.
This is a new encoding of an Original 2 Vinyl LP Broadcast Record Set in my personal collection. I had encoded this before but it was in an edited form. There were skips in some areas that were left of the last time which was basically the voice overs and commercials. Being an archivist as well as a collector I like getting the commercials too. They have been indexed separately so you can omit them if you want.
This is also a sonic upgrade as I have upgraded my equipment and techniques. The recording was made on a Vocopro CDR-1000PRO professional CD-r recorder. It's musician road case rack mount rated. It records in 24bit/44,1khz creating a high quality CD-r. It's meant for musicians to record their gigs and rehearsals. After the recordings were ripped I used Goldwave v.6.83 (no AI plugins) to manually remove vinyl pops and clicks from the waves before encoding them. I spent a lot of time working on this one trying to obtain the best quality I could. Hope everyone enjoys it!!

Thank you for this one! I'm going to compare what I already have, from an apparently westwood one vinyl source. I downloaded it in 2017 from the plumdusty blogspot. While the notes say it's from Chicago, Il. in August, 1982, the writer wasn't sure if it was actually recorded on the 5th or 6th of that month. The main difference is that version contains 5 more songs from the concert and has them in a more likely accurate order. If you're interested, I'll let you know what I can determine when I compare the two versions. Thanks so much again, G.
ReplyDeleteIt's from the same date, this show is the shorter version of the same concert. Westwood One will re-broadcast concerts with different Show numbers and altered set lists. I have like 4 different copies of the longer version from the net. The original version that was posted then 3 different remasters. I have been trying to obtain an actual 3 LP set for myself but the ones I have found were not worth buying. I belong to a group of 4 guys collecting and cataloging as many Westwood One shows we can as well as other old radio programs like A Night On The Road, The Source etc....there will be more like this one. My project right now is a rare Greg Kihn Westwood One. It needs a lot of TLC so it won't be ready before Christmas but soon.

Wow that's fantastic. Quite a labor of love! I don't have any Westwood One albums, but I do have an original CD of Phil Collins for KBFH that I found in a used record store too many years ago. It was recorded on December 9/10, 1982. It's not the full concert that can be found online, but it's a cool copy to have. Thanks again, G.
DeleteReally you have that CD now Gman? I would really appreciate a copy of that, with all the content? I am a hoarder of music I have 5 copies of Rush King Biscuit Flower Hour in Canada 1980 all issued in different years with different numbers and commercials but not one change in the track list lol! It's an obsession. Talk to you again my friend!
