Blue Rodeo would fit right in with the California Country/Rock scene of the 1970s. They unfortunately, like many other great Canadian Music Artists, the went under the radar in America. Think of it by the luck of the draw Rush, Gordon Lightfoot, The Guess Who, etc made it. They were lucky enough to make it through that invisible wall.

So if you are one of those people who is saying "...I never heard of Blue Rodeo..." If you like the California Country/Rock scene, or Southern Rock, Alt-Country, or the type of Country Music started by Alabama back in the day... take the time to check out Blue Rodeo.

  2. I'll have to check this one out, thanks. Another obscure band that barely made it down from Canada over the border is Monkeywalk. As far as I can tell they only got 2 albums out. Their second, More, is a fantastic listen. If you can't find it anywhere, let me know.

    1. I learned of Blue Rodeo from my friend BurnBoy. He lives in Canada and sees Blue Rodeo quite often. He records them every time he goes. He's a pro at it, like human octopus. He takes 3 recording units with him. He sometimes has a partner to block people but he handles the 3 units himself. He sent me some recordings and then I started downloading ones I found. The promotional power of a good bootleg at work lol. I'll look for Monkeywalk and let you know if I find it or not.

    2. Wow, 3 units and blockers? That's serious stuff; I'm jelly. If you can't find Monkeywalk, I'll need to rip it for you,

    3. He's pretty good. I'm going to send you some of his recordings. He recorded Rush quite a few times. He recorded 4 shows in Toronto for this years reunion tour. I have the finished masters for all of them. I have to wait a few days before I can share them. He wants to make some trades for them first. Since I met him he sends me everything he tapes as soon as it's finished. When he lets me I will share the new Rush with you but I have 3 in my mind for you I know you will like.
