justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to edit track marks and raise the volume. No EQ or noise reduction used, no remixing or remastering. The DVD had lossy audio so the waves were encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper.
This is the nicest sounding of my Saga broadcast recordings. Whoever authored the DVD it was ripped from did a really great job. The performance is top notch, the band sounding very well rehearsed. I have read some reviews of this show as being a little boring. Saga is considered to be a Pomp-Prog band, most Prog-Rock bands are a bit visually boring on stage but the performance is not boring to fans. If you were to tell me that Yes are exciting performers I would say you never saw them. If you said Yes are great live musicians I would agree. So this is for my fellow Saga fans, it's a great performance!

Thank you for posting some Saga..would love it if you were able to make this available in Flac. Lucky enough to see them in 1985 on one of their very infrequent visits to the UK...excellent band, first 5 studio albums are magnificent,
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome softshoebanana glad you are enjoying the music. Unfortunately I can not post this show in flac. Flac is a lossless codec and unfortunately the show itself is lossy based audio from a DVD that had MP3 320kbps as it's audio. To post it in flac would would make people believe it was a lossless file set when it is not. No one wants a lossy flac it's the biggest complaint from collectors. No lossless file should be lossy based because it would not be truly lossless it would be lossy. After learning this I decided I would never post a flac that was lossy. Sorry it's just a matter of reputation, but it's something a lot of us believe in.

@JustDave, I completely understand your position and have no issue with it. Thanks for taking the time to reply and explain. Take care bro
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome softshoebanana. I do have a few Saga shows in lossless that I still haven't posted yet so maybe I'll drop a couple of them soon!
