Rest In Peace Bear-Bear And Uncle Kenny You Will Be Missed Forever

As many of you know I have ferrets as my pets. I had a very special ferret named Bear-Bear who was my best friend as well as my support/service animal. He was trained to lay on my feet if he sensed I was about to have a diabetic sugar attack. He also kept my spirits up while I was home and Rosebud was at work. It can get a little depressing to be disabled, not able to work and support your family after that's all you've known for 30 years.

My buddy Bear-Bear passed away on March 19, after a month long illness that saw me needing to feed him with syringes towards the end. It started with a flu virus that Rosebud had caught at work. None of her co-workers vaccinate nor do they call in when they are sick. Unfortunately when people do this there can be innocent victims of your germs. Both my Bear-Bear and Rosebud's Chewy caught the flu. Chewy shook it of pretty easy but Bear-Bear required a vet visit. He was given steroids to combat the virus. Unknown to us was a tumor in his stomach. It was small (undetectable actually) but the steroids fed the cancer as they will do. The tumor burst causing a small stroke (he had 4 while we tried to find an emergency vet that would see him). He died in my arms. We have no idea how long we would have had him if he had not gotten the flu (don't get me wrong I am not trying to blame anyone just sating the facts). This led to a deep depression that worried Rosebud enough that she made me get another ferret to work with. She hoped I wouldn't have time to be depressed trying to train a 3 month old ferret kit named Trouble. He received his name after eating a hole in his new bed, then eating some ears of of stuffed animals.

Just as I was crawling out of my depression and Trouble was quickly learning his job, my Uncle Ken (my favorite Uncle who's married to my favorite Aunt Wez that taught me about music, they both were with me for one of my 1st concerts, Bob Seger at Cobo Hall) passed away after an all to short fight with multiple cancers, he was only 65. There was 4 of us in my family that received a cancer diagnosis in the same month. Myself, Uncle Kenny, My Aunt Rose and my Aunt Lily. I am the only one left. My cancer is holding steady, my numbers are still low and there has been no growth in my tumor and there is still only one. Thank You All for listening to me talk about my latest absence from the blog.

There are some new shows posted: Body Count, Squeeze, Fight, Gary Burton & Makoto Ozone, Alcatrazz, The Police and a re-posting of a Gamma show at the request of Raulzimdimaio@gmail.com

  3. JD & Rosebud, I am so sorry for your loses. It is never easy when you lose a family member like Uncle Kenny. I recommend listening to Venice's song "Family Tree". I played it over & over when my sister-in-law died.

It is amazing how attached we become to our furry family members. My wife and I spent a small fortune when our cat jumped over our fence into a neighbor's yard where they were remodeling and she landed on a broken pane of glass. Multiple surgeries, and veterinarian hospital stays she lived. Six months later she was diagnosed with operable cancer. I still miss her (even after several years). I am so glad Rosebud made you get Trouble, nothing keeps a person occupied more than Trouble.

JD keep hanging in there, it will get better. An oncologist who treated my daughter, said that beating cancer is 50% mental and 50% medical. Rosebud, keep taking care of JD, you are JD's inspiration to getting better.

My sincere best wishes to you both.

  5. Stay strong JD & Rosebud. We all are getting through troubled times when getting older. I'm suffering for one of my younger children recently under cancer treatment. Hard times indeed.
Music helps us all to get some relief from time to time.
    Greeting from rainy Paris,

  9. " 4 of us in my family received a cancer diagnosis in the same month. I am the only one left"

That brought tears to my eyes how awful. Keep fighting and keep positive mental attitude, it does play into it... keep it positive. My hopes are with you, there are fewer and fewer people left who love our music and actually got to experience live in its heyday (The 80's).
