Supertarmp is another band that a lot of purists say isn't true Progressive Rock. They are amongst the Prog bands branded Pomp-Prog because they write songs that skirt the rim of Prog Rock and Arena Rock. But since we here at The New JDP don't care about purists Supertramp is our next offering in our Salute To Progressive Rock Bands. Since this recording is also a Pre-FM vinyl rip it makes 2 Pre-FMs for this installment of Pre-FM Season.

  1. This is a really good show. I believe it's from Boston in May 1979 at Boston Music Hall. I had downloaded this from somewhere recently. I'm not sure what label I would put to their music but I have always enjoyed their first several albums with all the original members. Crime of the Century was one of my favorite albums of the mid 70's when it came out in vinyl. Fool's Overture from Even In the Quietest Moments is a great prog song. I saw them in Milwaukee in 1979 and was a great show. I believe I have that show actually.

Jumping to a different topic. You really find some interesting obscure (at least to me) groups from the 60's & early 70's. Wondering if you ever heard the album by the group Armageddon. They only had 1 album. (self titled). Its a great album. Never toured but may have 1 live recording. Keith Relf was in the band and he died shortly after their record came out.

    1. I've been a Supertramp fan since Crime Of The Century but agree Even In The Quietest Moments is one of the bands finest moments. As far as Keith Relf's Armageddon I have read about them but have never heard their music. I haven't heard any of Relf's Renaissance recordings either. I do have quite a bit of The Yardbirds stuff though, but that's the Heavy Music Fan in me, roots of Metal and all.

      Enjoy the show my friend
