Roots Of Heavy Metal post # 8

Iron Maiden on the North American leg of the Killer World Tour. Lead singer Paul Di'Anno would be replaced at the end of this tour. Bruce Dickinson would step in as replacement and play his first Iron Maiden show October 26, 1981, just four months later. For many (JD included) the Paul Di'Anno era holds a special spot in their hearts, due to the pure raw energy that was felt the first time we heard "Wrathchild" or the vocal power of Di'Anno on "Twilight Zone". Those first two Maiden albums along with the first few Motorhead and Venom LPs were what inspire a generation to amp up the speed and create Speed/Thrash Metal.

  1. Thanks Dave.

Couldn't agree more with your comments. My one and only Maiden show was with Paul on vocals, with Priest also on the bill. The show was supposed to include Whitesnake, but for some reason, they were scratched.
