I went to the CD store for the first time in a couple years (since moving into my new house, it took some time getting organized). I spent some money on some new silver CD bootlegs. Each was about $17 US. I took them home to rip them for posting and it turns out that the record company used MP3 based sources for their releases, hence they are lossy and I encoded them to MP3 320kbps.
This is the first of three new CD's to be posted this week. This one is a classic from early in the career of Rush. Neil Peart had only been in the band for about 4 months when this show was recorded to promote Rush's first tour of the USA.

Thanks for the Rush Dave.
ReplyDeleteI actually found this one on Amazon the other day but hadn't gotten around to buying it yet. So you saved me some green!
I don't think I have ever been in a music store that sold silver bootlegs. I always had to rely on the Internet or local record shows for those. Does the store you mentioned have a website for online orders?
Hope all is well.
Ron
You're welcome Ron! The store is called Flipside Records in Clawson Michigan their website is http://www.shopflipsiderecords.com/

Thanks for this! I've always been curious about Rush... never owned any of their records.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Charles, this is a great place to start if you're curious about Rush.

Dave -
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Flipside. I could spend an entire day (or more) in there! Locally owned record stores are non-existent where I live. A big part of my youth that is gone forever. Sad, but unfortunately a sign of the times. There is an excellent NetFlix documentary on the demise of Tower Records. Unfortunately, I can't remember the title!
Ron
You're welcome Ron, there are still a few good record/cd stores in my area. They are not as big as they used to be but always worth spending time at.
