I have a soft spot in my heart for this show. I was in the audience that night. I arrived just before the band went on (no idea about if there even was an opening act). There was no seating available so I wove through the crowd and positioned my self in front of the stage. There was a nice gentleman next to me, and we kept nodding our approval after each song. After the show we chatted a little and exchanged e-mails. A little while later he e-mailed me a link to these MP3 files. I am not sure if he recorded it or not but I appreciated the tunes. It's the only time I've heard from him too.
Many thanks for this! I'm a huge fan of Belew and in particular this band! Having seen several performances with this lineup, I came to the conclusion that Eric Slick is one of the best drummers I've ever seen...and I see lots of shows (and drumming is in my blood...my dad and brother are both accomplished drummers)! He left to join Dr. Dog and has been replaced by Tobias Ralph in Adrian's band. I strongly suggest to anyone on the fence about getting this one, DO IT!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! It was a great show, so glad to have been there.

Thank you for posting this! I had only CD one in my files and I really need to get Julie's intro to "Big Electric Cat" into my morning workout routine!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Dr. Zhivago Feelgood! With such a great show you need the whole thing!

I see my comment up there from a decade ago when I first got this from you in 192 bit rate! Planned to rave about Eric, but I see already did. Saw Belew in 06, 07, 09 and 2010 but not in 08... Thanks for sharing Dave- shmoopatties
ReplyDeleteWow shmoopatties! You just made me realize Rosebud and I have been doing this for over a decade. Her and I need to go through the archives together and see what we can come up with to celebrate that fact. Thanks for reminding me!
