I actually turned down a chance to see this concert with some friends of mine (I couldn't afford the ticket price) so I was glad to get a copy of the broadcast. This is a purely instrumental set and is only a portion of the actual concert, it is however all that was broadcast.

  1. Is there any chance of getting a Re-Up of this show? I think File Factory dropped the ball!
BTW, thank you for all you do!!!

    2. Thank you so much Dave... Very Much appreciated!! I wish I had got to see Ronnie in the early day, but i wasn't able to see him until 2006. Even at that later stage of his life, he was outstanding.

    3. You're welcome. Ronnie was a great talent who should be talked about a whole lot more when people talk about the development of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.

  2. This is a fantastic recording; so sorry it's not the full show. I also wish I had seen Ronnie solo in the early 90's. The Speed of Sound is a great album. Fortunately I did see him twice with Gamma in the early 80's, but alas there are no recordings of those sets. Thanks so much, G.

    1. I never saw Ronnie solo or with Gamma but I did get to see a Montrose reunion. Sammy Hagar played Pine Knob in the 1990s and had the band Montrose come out during the show and play a mini set during the middle of the show. Those first 2 albums Montrose and Paper Money are 2 of my all time favorite albums.

    2. Oh that's a great show to have seen! I agree about the early Montrose albums, particularly the first one. I've seen Sammy 9 times so far, and 5 times in the last 2 years (I recorded all of those shows). I've heard him play Montrose songs from time to time, but never got to see any kind of reunion. Ah, memories...

    3. It was billed as just a Sammy Hagar Waborito Festival. There was a Mariachi band playing the "fairway" entering Pine Knob. Piñata breaking, the bars were serving margaritas made with Sammy's tequila, free sombreros and people with lawn tickets getting picked to sit on the stage which was a copy of Sammy's bar. The Montrose reunion was billed as a special surprise musical guest on the radio. When Ronnie Montrose and the rest of the band walked out on stage it was pandemonium. So glad I got to see that show.

    4. Oh that's crazy good! It sounds a bit like when I saw Sammy in the summer of 2000. He had a bunch of people standing on the back of the stage with a bunch of partying in I guess was supposed to be his bar. No Montrose though; lol

    5. Oh I almost forgot the best story of the night. Sammy had a giant inflatable Tequila bottle in front of the front gates of Pine Knob. When we came out it wasn't there. We get in the car turn on the radio and the DJ said that someone stole Sammy's giant Tequila bottle and he was asking for it to be returned no questions asked. This thing was big like a farm silo taller than a barn. Someone was able to deflate it and get away clean!! And Sammy was on the radio saying just take it to the radio station and return it. You can imagine 2 guys after a day of great music, tequila and weed hearing that as we drove out of the parking lot. We laughed our asses of for hours after about it. Not sure if it was ever returned. Alright I have to go listen to Paper Money!
