This is one of the best Slayer gigs I've heard in a while. I say this because it's been a long time since Tom Araya hit the scream at the beginning of "Angel Of Death" but he does it here. This is actually the best that I've heard Tom sound in a while. As far as the set goes Slayer is like Ac/Dc or Motorhead you always know what your gonna get, a greatest hits package with a couple new ones thrown in. Since Slayer hasn't released anything since World Painted Blood there is nothing new. Performance wise this thing kicks ass like only Slayer can.

Have you heard about Babymetal? They're a Japanese J-pop band. totally manufactured. I should hate them but they won me over with their combination of death-metal riffing combined with chirpy pop choruses and intricate pop choreography.. Check out their video for "Gimme Chocolate:" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIKqgE4BwAY Probably the only death-metal song about the problems of teenage girls eating too much chocolate. As they say at the end of the video, "See you in the mosh'sh pit."
ReplyDeleteOh my God ... what have us Metal Heads brought upon this world...Ha Ha Ha Ha
ReplyDeleteYeah. One person reviewed it as "Somewhere in Norway there is a metalhead in corpse paint standing in a forest crying tears of blood." But the more I watched, the more I liked it. Sort of like the Monkees...they weren't "real" but the music was often great. While Babymetal isn't "real," Metallica thought enough of them to have them introduce a trailer for their new movie: http://www.metalinjection.net/video/babymetal-hype-metallicas-through-the-never
ReplyDeleteYeah, my wife got up and walked out of the room ... myself I laughed my ass off. I always see things like this as a great way to ease outsiders into the world of metal. We get you hooked with a Babymetal or a Poison then pretty soon your buying Black Sabbath and Slayer. Thanks for sharing it with me.
