All the Tom Petty Tributes that I have from 2017's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in one recording. The band Lampedusa is a Supergroup with Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, & Lucinda Williams every member takes a vocal on their track. Jamey Johnson performs "Southern Accents" & "Room At The Top" acoustic but his band joins him on "Mary Jane's Last Dance". The recording ends with Lucinda Williams also performing "Southern Accents".

James Farm is another great band fronted by Saxophonist Joshua Redman. Joshua Redman son of  Jazz Legend Dewy Redman should be no stranger to long time visitors of The New JDP as I have posted many shows featuring him.

I downloaded this recording from a website called Live Jazz Lounge. Live Jazz Lounge is one of my favorite places to download unreleased Jazz recordings. Leif Edling formed Candlemass in 1984 after the break up of his band Nemesis. The bands debut album, Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, released in 1986, is considered a Doom Metal Classic. In 1986 it's combination of slow heavy Black Sabbath like riffs and the Operatic vocals of Johan Längqvist sent shock waves through the Heavy Metal Underground. The band has gone through some line-up shifts over the years, 5 vocalists, 3 guitarists, 2 drummers, and 1 keyboard player. Over the years Leif Edling has been the one remaining constant. The band has settled on a line-up that features three musicians from the "classic era" guitarists Mats "Mappe" Björkman & Lars Johansson, & drummer Jan Lindh. On vocals is Mats Levén, formerly of Therion & Krux. This recording sounds great and the band just crushes the audience with a powerful performance. One of my all time favorite bands I can not recommend this enough!

Nice sound, a great set, and a fabulous performance. One of the best keyboard players in Progressive Rock performs some selections from his solo career, a classic Yes track "Starship Trooper" and a cover of The Beatles "Eleanor Rigby". Simply a must have!

I compiled this from different bootlegs in my collection. Quite a few bands have covered Jimi Hendix songs over the years. My choices are not meant to represent the best of these cover versions just ones that I like. The surprises out of the recordings showcased here would have to be Concrete Blonde's version of "Castles Made Of Sand" or Earth, Wind & Fire's cover of "Machine Gun". Some sources were lossy and some were not so I encoded everything to MP3 320kbps. All recordings were of soundboard quality (ie Pre-FM, FM & Soundboard). I tried to adjust the volume of the tracks so they were more uniform using Goldwave.

Hope you enjoy it, I have a couple similar projects in the works.

Ray Wilson was lead vocalist for Genesis after Phil Collins left the band in 1996. Ray Wilson recorded one album with Genesis, Calling All Stations. The band embarked on a European Tour, after which a North American Tour was planned. The North American Tour was cancelled due to poor ticket sales. The band went on hiatus in 2000. Ray Wilson continued to make music as a solo artist. This show contains Genesis material, solo material, as well as songs from his other bands Stilskin and Cut. A cover of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" is thrown in for good measure.

This collaboration is one I wouldn't have thought up myself, having said that I have to concluded that I love this band. The duo are a perfect match in their eclectic song writing and musicianship. I recommend any one who likes to try new things download this one and give it a try. I know all Primus fans will love it, but fans of Experimental or Progressive music will also want to check this one out.

"Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House" was written by Warren Haynes & Dennis Robbins for a Dennis Robbins' solo album. Dennis  Robbins was a member of the Detroit Rock & Roll band The Rockets. When The Rockets broke up Dennis  Robbins went on to record a couple solo albums of Country Music. The song "Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House" was later covered by Garth Brooks and became a smash hit.
