This is yet another great sounding show from Santana's 1973 tour. We posted another not to long ago that included a newspaper article with a kind of bad review. This one includes another review, this time with a slightly better view of the show. When this one surfaced (and I don't remember when) it was an uncirculated 1973 soundboard.
I love this era of Santana, quite frankly Santana didn't lose me as a listener until "Smooth". That was only slightly so don't hate, I only skip that song. It feels like a very obvious grab for The Charts. Also my daughter, when she was a teen, wore me out on Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20. Sorry just don't care for them, my personal opinion. A lot of fans did abandon Santana at the changes that came with Caravanserai. The out right Jazz on the album wasn't a welcome departure from the Latin Rock of the first three albums. Then some fans turned their backs at the Hard Rock albums like Inner Secrets and Marathon. I've stuck with Santana through all of the changes except for one song so I guess could be a fan.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to edit track marks, adjust the volume of all tracks to be uniform, add fade outs/ins and cross fades. No EQ or noise reduction was used. The DVD had lossy audio so I encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps with Trader's Little Helper.
The recording shows a little age, and maybe a couple generations, not so much that it is unlistenable though. I never thought I would find a soundboard recording of Grim Reaper. Finding a Pro-Shot DVD from the only tour I caught them on was far from my mind. I heard of Grim Reaper through Hit Parader magazine. There was an add for See You In Hell. You could send a stamped self addressed envelope for the to send you a floppy sampler of Grim Reaper & White Wolf. The floppy record had snippets of "See You In Hell" & "Dead On Arrival" plus 2 unmemorable tunes by White Wolf. The floppy came with mail order info so I bought See You In Hell. I bought all the Grim Reaper releases, along with Helloween & Armored Saint. When I heard they were touring together I had to see them. It was awesome, this Metal Head was in Heaven.

The show has been edited to run like it was broadcast with no breaks for a CD1 & CD2 set. It will not fit onto a single CD-r, so if you want to burn an audio CD-r you will have to choose a spot for your CD break.

Note:
- Each set has had some extensive work done on it by ledwhofloyd to make it so listenable. The notes about this work is included in each set's folder. The set folders have been left as torrented on Dime, no changes at all.
It's a bright Autumn Sunday morning here in Michigan. There is a nice breeze helping the trees shed their leaves. I thought "It's a great morning for The Pat Metheny Group". So I turned on the early show from this set. Ate 2 sativa gummies while making my coffee (gotta love legal recreational marijuana). Made myself a large mug of coffee and set about getting Rosebud ready for her work day. I made her a travel mug of coffee then packed a lunch and snack for her breaks. I baked a homemade chicken pot pie for dinner last night, so I packed her a slice.
When she came downstairs she heard the Pat Metheny show and asked "You posting this?" to which I asked "should I?" she replied "Absolutely!" so this is a Rosebud approved Jazz On Sunday Morning offering. We both hope you enjoy it on your Sunday.

JustDave's Notes:
I downloaded this kick ass DVD from a Russian torrent tracker. I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some of the track marks, I also raised the volume by doubling it twice. No EQ or Noise Reduction was used and no remixing or remastering was done. I did remove the broadcast programs intro and outro music. The DVD itself was two parts, each part having five tracks. I cross faded the two parts together for a smoother transition. The DVD itself had lossy audio so the waves were encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper aligning all sector boundaries.
These four men to me are some of the most talented musicians in Jazz today. I have never heard a bad performance when just one of them was involved. When the four get together you have one of the best damn Jazz Improv bands today. I have a lot of music on the blog from Medeski, Martin, & Wood and John Scofield so check the links to the right.

My Favorite Country Music Singer Of All Time Has Passed Away At Age 71 no cause of death has been announced.
I became aware of John Anderson like most other people, when "Swingin" came on the radio while in the car. I was in High School and riding in my best friend in life's car heading to pick up our girlfriends. The four of us attended the same church three nights a week, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was called Teen Devotional and was just an hour discussion then we would all go shoot pool, bowl, go to the video arcade or a teen club to see live music. Our Youth Director would pay for the night, including food. My friend and our dates would stop at a store where if you lay your car keys on the counter and they would sell you beer or wine. If you tried to buy whiskey they would ask for ID. We would buy 4 bottles of cheap wine, MD 20/20 or Thunderbird, before hitting the church. We would smoke a couple joints, drink some wine, go to church then go out with the group and get buzzed while we partied with our church group. Anyway we heard "Swingin" three times that night, so I bought the album the next day.

Notes:
- Record sonic cleaned and then rinsed before delivery.
- Upon delivery record hand cleaned with Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Super Record Wash.
- Record then cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning system.
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used prior to LP playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Manually declicked in Goldwave.
- The Vocopro CDR-1000PRO records at 24bit/44,1khz.
- E.A.C. rips CDs at 16bit/44,1khz.
- Break between segments was to be used for Local DJ & Station ID.
- Each segment separated by a locked groove.
Known Faults:
- Static in very beginning of concert opening can not be cleaned very well no music harmed.
- Westwood One packed 53 minutes of music on one Live From Gilley's LP.
- That makes for tighter grooves, making it harder to fight needle damage noise.
Side Notes:
I am not sure but I think it might be George Strait singing the Hamburger Helper jingle. Along with George Strait, John Anderson was considered a New Traditionalist Country Artist, instead of Country Pop like Alabama. With what is called a slow southern drawl, John Anderson's vocal style was easily identifiable. Not happy just to sing other writers songs Anderson wrote a big amount of his own material. He was voted into the The Nashville Songwriter's Hall Of Fame in 2014 and into The Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2024.
Hamburger Helper Chili And Tomato is a failed flavor that you can't really find much about on the internet except for some persons collection of photos on their pintrest of failed Hamburger Helper flavors (interesting obsession). Campbell's Fiesta Nacho Cheese Soup brand has evolved into the Spicy Nacho Cheese flavor.
The Gilley's Brand became bigger than Mickey Gilley's career. After the Texas bar was used in the John Travolta movie Urban Cowboy people everywhere wanted something Gilley's. There was Gilley's Own Beer which I could not find any reviews of. I saw at least 10 different styles of Gilliey's belt buckles. There were shirts, pins, place mats and more. The bar eventually closed in the 1980s. It then later burned.

John Anderson is my favorite Country Music performer of all time. I have been listening to him since I was in High School. That was a pretty long time ago, when we had muscle cars and vinyl was not a fad but a way of life. This is one of the records that Rosebud bought me for Christmas 2024. There is yet another John Anderson recording being delivered today. She also bought me 4 Westwood One Superstar Conncert Series 3 album box sets, Aerosmith, Foreigner, The Fixx and Robert Palmer. I have started encoding those so they will be yours shortly!

- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LP prior to playback.

- Break between segments was to be used for Local DJ & Station ID.
- Each segment separated by a locked groove.
- Show promo was first track on LP instead of last like most other Westwood One productions.
- Recording is a rebroadcast of the same show as Live From Gilley's #86-52 with one different song. Live From Gilley's #88-03 drops "Let Somebody Else Drive" and adds "Swingin'"
- All editing done in 24bit/96khz
- Declicked manualy and some noise reduction used.
Known Faults:
- Westwood One packed 53 minutes of music on one Live From Gilley's LP.
- That makes for tighter grooves, making it harder to fight needle damage noise.
- Segment 4 had a hard substance in the grooves that made it skip. It took 3 hours, some alcohol and a discwasher brush to remove. There may be a little static there but it plays all the way through
Other notes:
- John Anderson does so much for Native American Tribes that a lot of people think is part Native American. He has no Native American blood he just grew up in a small town in the south of the United States. This little town was by a Reservation where Native Americans live. He became very sympathetic toward how the Native Americans were and are treated by the United States. My Dad was of Apache and German decent.....

justdave's notes:
I downloaded this years ago, upon first listen I noticed gaps between songs. I have gone through and removed all the gaps and one drop-out. I re-encoded the waves back to MP3.
As we pay Tribute To Rosebud's Favorite Singers we have to included her favorite Country Music singer John Anderson. When Rosebud and I first began to see each other she new very little about Country Music. She new her Dad loved Merle Haggard but couldn't tell Alabama from Willie Nelson. The 1st time I got any reaction out of her about a Country Artist was when I played John Anderson's Seminole Wind album. She listened along with me ad after the last song, "Seminole Wind" was over then asked if I would play it again. I started the song over and she quickly said "No, the whole CD". So I did. As we sat smoking a joint she remarked how much she liked his voice. When the CD finished she asked how many of John's CDs I own. I told her 12, not counting the Greatest Hits collections. So over the next few days I played her every John Anderson CD I own. She is a huge fan of his music and rich distinctive voice. She can tell the difference between Merle Haggard & Willie Nelson now. Unfortunately she can't tell Hank Williams Jr. from Chris Stapleton.

While the Santana band was touring through Europe in 1978 the Devadip Orchestra was the opening act for every gig. The Devadip Orchestra focused on Carlos Santana's solo material released under his Buddist name Devadip Carlos Santana. Carlos became a Buddhist in 1971 after John McLaughlin introduced him to guru Sri Chinmoy he would remain a follower until 1982.
This is an all instrumental set and sounds pretty good although the tape does show a little age.

Henry Rollins is one of my favorite performers, so much passion in every movement and syllable. I never saw him with Black Flag (had my own gig when they played their last show here in Detroit so..). I've seen him a couple times with The Rollins Band and was just blown away (too bad he's now retired from music!). The man could be intimidating when seen from the front row of a club.
I downloaded this recording from a nice blog called The Luxor Dream run by a person named Titus. I do believe he made the cover art as well. Titus has been around a while and has a nice variety of recordings to share. I recommend visiting.

This is a great collection of outtakes from the long career of the Motor City's Favorite Son Bob Seger. Bob Seger released his first single "Ballad Of The Yellow Beret" b/w "It's Florida Time" as the vocalist for local Detroit band Doug Brown & The Omens in 1966. The song was a parody of Sgt. Barry Sadler's hit "Ballad Of The Green Beret" and a slam against draft dodgers. Bob went solo soon after and released "East Side Story" b/w "East Side Sound" with his own group Bob Seger & The Last Heard. Under The Last Heard moniker Bob would release 4 more singles. When the band was picked up by Capitol Records they changed the name to The Bob Seger System. The Bob Seger System released 3 albums Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, Noah, and Mongrel before Bob went solo in 1971 with the "Lookin' Back" single. After that Bob released the Brand New Morning album. Brand New Morning featured Bob singing and playing either piano or acoustic guitar. The album is long out of print and Bob actually insists it never be re-released. Seek it out it is a fantastic listen. Bob Seger's career took of when he released the Beautiful Loser album. From there a string of hit albums would follow and the world learned what Detroit knew for a long time....Bob Seger could really rock!

Blue Rodeo was a bit of a surprise to me. When it was recommended I should check them out I was skeptical to say the least. I was told they were sort of an Alt-County Southern Rock kinda thing from Canada. I must apologize to all my Canadian friends but Canada was not my first guess I would find a Southern Rock band. When I think of Canadian Music I think Gordon Lightfoot, Rush, Triumph, April Wine, Anvil, Exciter, & Cryptopsy, not an Alt-Country Southern Rock kinda thing. I accepted his loan of the bands debut CD. I have to admit I played it so much Rosebud noticed and asked that I chose something else. She said it was okay but not for back to back listening.
Rosebud is not a big fan of Country Music or really Country sounding Southern Rock. She loves Lynyrd Skynyrd after I took her to see the Johnny Van-Zant lead version live. I then said I wanted to go see a Charlie Daniels Volunter Jam tour that was coming to Detroit. She said me she wanted to go so we took her with us. The show had a version of Molly Hatchett with only 1 founding member left, The Marshall Tucker Band who still had Doug Gray but his voice was gone, The Charlie Daniels Band which ever version Charlie had, and the headliner was ole Bocephus himself, Hank Williams Jr. Now we were on the lawn with our friends drinking and smoking having a good time.
When Hank Williams started the intro to "Family Tradition" and the whole crowd singing "Hank why do you roll smoke" I lit up. We were halfway through the doobie when I had a Cop ask me "Aren't you a little too old to be smoking pot at a concert?" I was deeply offended and told the officer "I just turned 30 what do you mean too old?" The Cop says "...too old to want to sleep on concrete tonight if he smarts off again." So I shut up and the cop says "I'm not arresting you but you and your friends have to leave." I said to my buddy sitting in front of me with his brother "Excuse me sir, I know we were sharing our blanket with you but the police want me to leave so could you and your friend slip off it?" He looked at me and the cops and said "Sure man..... I hope all goes well". The cop started escorting Rosebud and I off the hill toward the exits. Rosebud decided to speak her mind about the situation yelling "We're getting thrown out for smoking weed like we are some kinda criminals!" "This is a violation of my rights as a citizen to my pursuit of happiness." I said in a grumble "Damn it shut up, he's not arresting us and this is Hank's encore, fuck it lets go home." I told Rosebud when we were safely away from the cops "I have about an once rolled in joints in my jacket pocket. You almost got me popped woman!" We laugh about it now especially since it's now legal.

I've Been A Little Busy, Sorry!!
Sorry it's been a while since I updated the blog. I have been busy having my house fitted with solar panels and backup batteries. Electricity is getting expensive due to data centers. My solar set up is estimated to cover about 80% of my electrical needs. The winter months I may have to pay for some electricity. If the power goes out I won't have to hook up my generator. I also have a 25 year maintenance and replacement package on my battery back up. After we have winter I'll have a better idea how much of my electricity the panels will actually cover.
So this year marks 3 years that I am cancer free. It also marks 13 years that Rosebud and I have been posting music for our friends on this blog. Our house is 3 years old this week, Rosebud and I have been living here for 3 years now too.
So in this spirit of Celebration I went out shopping. What I bought was 7 Bob Seger Bootleg Box Sets and a single Bob Seger CD boot for a total of 29 CDs of Bob Seger bootleg material. I also bought a Budweiser Concert Hour 3 Album set of George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic. The Bob Seger Box Sets are posted on the blog now. I have to encode the George Clinton yet.
Besides the Bob Seger overload there are also a bunch more re-posted links.
Thank You For The Years!

JustDave's Notes:
- The bootleg company that released this CD uses CD-r's to make their releases.
- All these songs appeared on the original 4 CD version of the bootleg Lookinback The Box. For some reason the box set was cut down to a 3 CD version. These 13 songs are the songs that were left off of the 3 CD set.
- The waves tested lossy with Trader's Little Helper but I encoded the album to flac anyway so as not to lose anymore fidelity because they sound great. It could be noise reduction making them test lossy.
Notes On Songs:
- "A Broken Man" was written for Bob's 1991 album The Fire Inside and is Bob and a keyboard and is most likely a demo.
- "Can't Hit The Corners Anymore" was written for Bob's Against The Wind album and was left off due to Punch Andrews, Seger's manager, saying to Seger "It sounds like you're giving up". I read this in the Rolling Stone article with Bob Seger about the Against The Wind album.
- "Carfax Abby" is an interesting Seger ballad about to Dracula's Castle in Transylvania which sounds like more than a demo.
- "Dark Eyes" is another recording with Bob at a keyboard singing. For this one no information is given but Bob laughs at the end and the sound is that of a demo.
- "Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey" was written for the Road House Motion Picture Soundtrack
- "I Am Woman, You Are Man" is another recording with Bob at a keyboard singing and sounds like a demo.
- "Ivory" is said to be an outtake of the Ramblin' Gamblin' Man album. It's the same version that another bootleg calls a remix. I'm not sure what the real origion is.
- "Long Way From Home" is another recording with Bob at the piano singing which sounds like a demo to me instead of an alternate version.
- "Reckless Heart" was left off of Bob's album Like A Rock. He should have put on a B-side of a single.
- "Still Water" is said to be an outtake from 1971 which puts around the time Bob recorded Brand New Morning which was just Bob singing and playing piano or guitar. Not sure where the outtake comes from.
- "Fat Man In The Bathtub" is not on the CD it's a misprint. Track 11 is actually the song "The Fat Man" which was recorded during the sessions for the song "Blue Monday".
- "The Ring" is over 7 minutes long here while on the album Like A Rock it's just over 5 minutes.
- "Yesterday Rules" while left off the Back To The Future Soundtrack was played live off and on during the 1986 tour. This live version comes from the Saratoga Springs, New York September 11, 1986 soundboard recording which circulates as a bootle.

Notes On Tracks:
Disc One
- Track 01 An early public service message recorded by Bob Seger
- Track 02 1974's "This Old House" is the Holy Grail if you will for Bob Seger Collectors. The B-Side to the single version of "U.M.C. (Upper Middle Class)" was never released on an album. Later in Bob's career he re-wrote the lyrics and the song became the hit single "We Got Tonight".
- Tracks 03-05 & 16 from the Distance Recording sessions 1982
- Tracks 06-14 & 17 from the Like A Rock Sessions 1985/1986.
- Track 15 from the Blue Monday sessions 1988.
Disc Two:
- Tracks 01 & 08 from The Timothy White Sessions, Chicago, Illinois, December 16, 1991.
- Track 02-07 from the Like A Rock Sessions 1985/1986
- Tracks 09, 10 & 13 recorded live at The Orphanage Club, San Francisco, CA May 14, 1974.
- Tracks 11 & 12 were rcorded circa 1971.
- Track 14 is an alternate mix or re-mix of the 1969 song from the Ramblin' Gamblin' Man album.
Disc Three:
- Track 01 was recorded live 1996 supposedly recorded live in 1996.
- Tracks 02 & 10 from The Timothy White Sessions, Chicago, Illinois, December 16, 1991.
- Track 03 from the Blue Monday sessions 1988.
- Tracks 04, 05, 07, 09, & 12 from the Like A Rock Sessions 1985/1986
- Track 06 from The Fire Inside Sessions 1990.
- Track 08 recorded live Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Sartoga Springs, New York, August 11, 1986.
