For our first Independence Day offering we have The American Band Grand Funk Railroad. This recording comes from the 1980's reunion. For this reunion original bassist Mel Schacher decided to opt out due to his developing a fear of flying. Dennis Bellinger was recruited to take his place. This line-up recorded 2 albums, Grand Funk Lives and What Funk? The song "Queen Bee" from Grand Funk Lives was also included on the soundtrack to the animated movie Heavy Metal.

Thank You!!

Rosebud & I would like to extend a very sincere Thank You to all of you who left all the beautiful comments. It has been a rough week for our family. The loss of Jamie will be forever felt here. He was a very kind and loving soul who would always put friends and family before himself. He held 3 Black Belts in 3 different styles of Karate. He was a retired Michigan State Bantam Weight Champion - Retired and undefeated. A very spiritual man, he loved to help others. He has a very beautiful daughter who blessed him  with a beautiful granddaughter just a few short years ago. Jamie loved his motorcycles and road all his life. He had just purchased his 2016 Harley Davidson a few months ago. He was returning from the hospital with his new girlfriend visiting her ailing mother when the accident happened. Jamie was happy when he road, he felt free...he died doing something he really loved... R.I.P my brother.

I Will Be Taking A Break

Last night I lost someone very near and dear to me, my cousin Jamie. He was my best friend and brother since we were toddlers. He was only 50 and his life was cut short in a terrible motorcycle accident. I have nothing prepared for upload, the last three shows from Halestorm, Dave Holland Prism, and Venom were the last boots I listened to..and I can't bring myself to listen to any music right now, so I will be taking some time to mourn my fallen brother. I will be back in a few days...when I have come to terms with what has happened. This is not an end to The New JDP, I will be back...but music was a big part of my and Jamie's relationship...down to attending our first concert together (Bob Seger at Cobo Hall when we were quite young)...I can not listen to anything without the tears...so give me a few days....visit our archive and download some music, and celebrate the lives of those you love while you still have them...Call someone today and tell them how much they are needed in your life...

Fly On Jamie Hicks My Brother...I'll See You In Heaven!
