Due to the fact that Prince launched multi-million dollar lawsuits against some bootleg hosts (T.U.B.E. for one). I won't be posting any bootlegs of him on the site. This is the closest we will come, a nice sounding recording of Miles Davis playing some Prince tracks at random shows. Prince and Miles actually worked together on a studio project. Miles was in one studio and Prince another and the tapes were sent to Miles for overdubs. This recording never surfaced officially but has been bootlegged. They also appeared live together at a New Years Eve benefit concert at Paisley Park Studios,  Minneapolis, MN December 31, 1987. This show has also surfaced as a soundboard bootleg.

Chris Wood - sax
Rick Grech - bass
Jim Gordon - drums
Reebop Kwaku Baah - percussion

Track 01. The Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys - alternate take, February 9, 1971
Not really that different from the real version except that Chris Wood’s electric sax is replaced by lethargic noodling.

Track 02. Rock And Roll Stew - alternate take, May 19, 1971
Same words and progression as the actual take but the feel of the song is completely different. Almost a different song entirely. Interesting to see how the song evolved over three months’ time.

Track 03. Rainmaker - alternate take, May 19, 1971
Pretty much what it says.

Track 04. Rock And Roll Stew - alternate mix, August 25, 1971
This is (I guess) the full version from the English 45. As mentioned above, it is somewhat distorted (overmodulated) though certainly listenable. The instrumental ending not included on the album version is not particularly memorable. If this is indeed the extended 45 version, you haven’t missed much.

Track 05. Light Up Or Leave Me Alone - alternate mix, August 25, 1971
Mostly, the difference is Jim Capaldi vocalizing a bit during the instrumental sections.

Track 06. Traffic Jam #1 - take 2
Personnel not really listed but it sounds like Steve Winwood, Jim Gordon and Rick Grech sounding sorta like Blind Faith. Interesting take but just a jammy thing.

Track 07. Traffic Jam #2 - with Muscle Shoals Horns
Track 7 and 8. Not sure who’s playing what beyond the obvious. The rhythm section certainly seems to be the Alabamy boys and I’d bet on Steve Winwood on guitar and maybe organ. Shoot Out meets a horn section.

Track 08. Traffic Jam #3 - with Muscle Shoals Horns

Track 09. It’s So Hard - Jim Capaldi and Jim Gordon demo #1
Track 10. It’s So Hard - Jim Capaldi & Jim Gordon demo #2

Track 9 and 10. Jim Capaldi and Jim Gordon playing acoustic guitar, fleshing out the song. For diehard fans only.

Track 11. Easter Weekend - Jim Capaldi demo #1

Track 12. Easter Weekend - Jim Capaldi demo #2
