Another nice sounding show from Mudvayne this time on tour for the LD50 release. Mudvayne had a very visual image at this time including masks, face & body paint, and different uniforms. The band also used stage names that fit their Zeta Reticuli back story (the band was supposed to be from another planet). The image and stage names have evolved over time to the present day where they now use their own names and have dropped the makeup.

The band is well known for their complex riffs, and their unique playing style. Described as Math Metal the music itself contains "number symbolism", in which certain riffs are used that correspond with thematic elements of the song's lyrics. Bassist Ryan Martinie will go from Funk style slap/pop bass to Flamenco picking, finger tapping, strumming and plucking all in the context of one song. Vocalist Chad was picked by Vinnie Paul of Pantera/Damageplan fame to front his metal comeback band Hellyeah.

This is a classic bootleg and have to keep the classics alive. This was recorded by Motown and intended as a live album release but for some reason it was shelved by Stevie Wonder before it could be released. It's thought that Stevie considered the show to be sub-par for some reason and work discontinued on the project. You can judge for yourself if Stevie and Motown should get out the master tapes and give this one a legitimate release.

Digitized From The Original Radio Broadcast Vinyl

Draftervoi's original notes:
I've digitized a half dozen or so of these Superstars In Concert shows, and this one has more music than usual.  On all of the prior shows, the music easily fit on an 80 minute CD, with room to spare. This Jackson Browne show is several minutes too long to fit on one CD, even if leave out the the show intro, outro and all of the breaks.

Browne is joined by David Lindley, who plays some nice slide guitar on this one.

(.... and there's a certain irony in hearing Mr. Browne sponsored by the U.S. Army Reserve.  :)

NOTE:  I've seen this show reposted on other websites, attributed to  "Shoreline Amphitheater."  I do not know if that is correct; at no time during this show do they refer to where the show was recorded. There is a DIFFERENT Westwood One show (86-E) that was from Shoreline,  but this is not that show.  They may be right... both shows may have been recorded at Shoreline, but there's nothing in the original syndicated broadcast that indicates that's true.
